Well I will tell you sometimes not bad and a lot of times horrible. Commercial vehicle sales in my area has really dropped off from what I seeand hear if you believe all you hear. Personally it is a real seesaw year for me. It started out good then fissled and now I have some great orders in and a good prospect i am working with right now.
But there lies the problem only one prospect in the N Y C tri-state area now to work with not good. Goal I set was to make one new account and several small independent customer sales for the next quarter. It has been the goal all summer and with very few positive results. Now we are being moved in to a new Headquarters and all commercial business must be forwarded or directed to us let’s see what happens.
I gotta say fright now we see little to nothing. That of what we do see is usually people who are looking for heavier equipment or some type of specialized equipment used , something we just do not carry naturally. A lot of places are just sticking with what they got even it is over the hill until it is no longer usable whether it is helping the bottom line or not. Just as long as it is not negatively affecting profits.
But what do you do you cry, complain or give up? No I think you just take it in stride and regroup and reconsider your moves. Something I seem to be doing a lot of lately. Even to the point of maybe looking at moving on into something new and different in transportation. Again, doing that will have its unique problems as well. But I guess we have to just figure out what is right for us and know when to pull the plug and move on or stay in and ride the waves till we have calm waters again. The transportation industry and fleet management is changing fast and furious with new technology and new people taking over for the old guard. Either way it is interesting and going to be very satisfying or miserable depending on how you or I are received and we keep up with the changing technology that is coming down.
it is amazing how much you have to try to keep up with these days. From information on the vehicles to the Technology installed in them to knowledge of how people and businesses want to use them. It is a never-ending time of learning and pushing forward.
