Brand perception is very important I guess that is what both ads are after?
Cadillac’s response to the Ford’s Upside: Anything is Possible Ad, that featured the founder of Detroit Dirt, Pashon Murray is one that allows for tough criticism.
If I were the CIO for Cadillac my follow up response to the Ford Ad would be one with character and pride in being with Cadillac.
Ford did not point out Cadillac for any wrong doing as a car dealer, or blatantly criticize Ford’s character as a top brand. They only came up with a commercial, that obviously showcased Ford, but more importantly brought attention to Detroit and the need to focus on sustainability and using the method of composting today. Using Pashon Murray, in the Ford commercial brought comedic relief because of the choice of outfit and overall appearance.
Not only by watching this Ford Ad do you get a feeling for their brand and the type of vehicles…
