The car that James Bond “loved more than all the women in his life” will be among an array of stunning Bentleys exhibited at the Hampton Court Concours of Elegance. The 1954 R-Type Continental Drophead Coupe is the car thought to have inspired author Ian Fleming to give his agent such a model in his novel Thunderball.
A record 155 classic cars spanning 50 marques and 91 years greeted the biggest ever attendance at Historics at Brooklands sale. It proved to be an Italian feast, with a bright yellow 1972 Ferrari 246 Dino GT soaring above estimate to £248,640.
